Air conditioning with JJS Electrical starts from £1,495 including VAT for one room, and that includes the electrical supply. The final price depends on the number of rooms, the size of the room, where the outdoor unit can go and how far the pipes have to run. You get a free visit and a written quote before any work starts.
What the starting price covers
The £1,495 figure is for one room with a back-to-back system (the indoor unit on an outside wall, with the outdoor unit directly behind it outside), up to 3 metres of pipework and trunking, and power from a local fused circuit. A typical unit is something like the Haier Revive 3.2 kW. We test the electrical work and certify it to BS 7671, and it's fitted by an F-gas certified installer who is a member of REFCOM.
What changes the price
Every home is different, so these are the things we look at during the free visit:
- How many rooms. Each extra room needs its own indoor unit, and sometimes a bigger outdoor unit or a second system.
- The size of the room. A large or open-plan space may need a more powerful unit than a standard bedroom or study.
- Conservatories. They heat up and cool down fast, so they usually need more careful sizing.
- Where the outdoor unit goes. The starting price is for a back-to-back system, with the outdoor unit directly behind the indoor unit on the same outside wall. Upstairs walls, awkward corners or a spot on the ground further away all add work.
- The pipe run. The refrigerant pipes, cable and drain run between the two units. The starting price includes up to 3 metres of pipework and trunking. A longer or more awkward route costs more.
Get a guide price in a minute
Our air conditioning price calculator asks a few quick questions about your rooms and gives you a guide figure straight away. Anything it can't price, it tells you, and we cover it at the visit.
Why a written quote matters
A guide price is a starting point. A written quote after a visit tells you exactly which unit you're getting, where both units will go, how the pipes will run and the total, before we start.
What does servicing cost?
We offer a service every year, from £120 + VAT per unit. It keeps the unit clean and running efficiently.
Is air conditioning worth it in the UK?
For a lot of homes, yes. Summers are getting warmer, and bedrooms in the roof or rooms with big south-facing windows can be hard to sleep in. Most wall units are also heat pumps, so the same unit heats the room in spring, autumn and winter. See can air conditioning heat your home?
Do I need planning permission?
Often not, but it depends on your home. See our guide to air conditioning and planning permission, and check with the Planning Portal or your council before you commit.
