What information we collect

JJS Electrical Solutions Ltd ("JJS", "we", "us") is an electrical contractor based in Derby, working for homes and businesses across Derby and Derbyshire. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. When you fill in our quote form, call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we collect the details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you are asking about, and anything you tell us in your message, such as your address or details of the job.

Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, to keep the site secure and working. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not ask for any sensitive personal information through this website.

To see which pages are useful, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts visits, pages viewed, the site that sent you and your rough region, without cookies and without tracking you across other websites. We only see totals, never who you are.

When you type your postcode into the quote form to look up your address, the postcode (and nothing else about you) is sent to postcodes.io, a free public service run by Ideal Postcodes, so we can fill in your town. Your progress through the quote form is kept in your own browser for that visit only, so nothing is lost if you go back a page; it clears when you close the tab.

How we use your information

We only use your information for the reasons you would expect. Under UK GDPR we rely on the following legal bases: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing a contract with you, meeting our legal obligations, and our legitimate interest in running and improving our business. In practice, that means we use it to:

• Reply to your enquiry and give you a written quote
• Arrange, carry out and certify the electrical work you book with us
• Keep the records we are legally required to keep, such as certificates and invoices

We never sell your information. We share it only where needed to do the job: with Cloudflare, which hosts this website; with Web3Forms, which delivers quote form messages to our inbox; with our email and phone providers; with the registration and building control bodies we are required to notify of certain completed work; and with our accountants or insurers where necessary. We keep enquiry details for up to 12 months if no work goes ahead, and job records, certificates and invoices for at least six years.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies for visitors. While you fill in the quote form, your answers are kept in that browser tab only, so nothing is lost if you look at another page; they are cleared when you send the form or close the tab, and never leave your device until you press send. Buttons and links that open third-party services, such as WhatsApp, Google or Facebook, are covered by those providers' own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred to another provider. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
