Hilton has grown from a small village into a sizeable community since the 1990s, much of it on the site of a former Ministry of Defence depot. The result is a large number of modern family homes with drives and gardens, alongside the older village by the Hilton Brook and the timber-framed Wakelyn Old Hall. Newer homes mostly need things added, while older properties may need a fresh board or a rewire. Either way, we survey first and put our quote in writing.

Homes in Hilton
Hilton is an old village that has seen a great deal of development. Most of the new housing stands on a 280-acre former Ministry of Defence depot, developed by St Modwen from the 1990s onwards with builders such as Redrow, Persimmon, Bryant and Wimpey. Older buildings remain, including Wakelyn Hall, a 16th-century timber-framed house. Houses from the 1990s and 2000s are wired in PVC and are usually in good shape. Their boards tend to have a single RCD or 2, and rarely have spare ways for a charger.

The jobs we do most here
Hilton's newer houses keep us fitting EV chargers, supplies to garden offices and replacement boards.
Covering Hilton and nearby
We cover Hilton and the DE65 area, including Etwall, Willington and Egginton. On the many newer homes we check the supply and consumer unit capacity before quoting for a charger or a garden building, so the price reflects the real job.
Asked in Hilton
We bought a starter home in Hilton. Can the board take an EV charger?
Often not as it stands. Smaller new-builds tend to have compact boards with every way used. A charger needs its own circuit, so it may mean a small separate enclosure or a larger board. We check the main fuse and the load first, then tell you which option fits.
Our Hilton house was built around 2000. Does the builder's certificate cover changes we make now?
No. The original certificate covers the wiring as it was handed over. Any new circuit, or a board change, gets its own certificate and Part P notification. Keep both together. You'll need them when you sell.

100% Recommend JJS Electrical Solutions! Did an amazing job for me! Josh kept me updated on when he was planning to get to our home and sorted out the issues on the same day!…
Josh reached out to me on Facebook following a post I made in the local group asking for help. Unfortunately there were some negative comments on my post, Josh reached out and offered to fix our issue free of charge, as a gesture of kindness and goodwill…
