Electrical work in Sawley

  • NG10 postcodes

  • NAPIT registered, every job certified

Sawley lies on the Trent at the western edge of Long Eaton, with its marina, the river locks and the old village around All Saints' Church. Much of the housing went up after the 1930s, when the old village was cleared and rebuilt, and many of those homes are now due a proper look at the circuits and the board. We test first, then fit new boards, rewire and install EV chargers, with a certificate for every job.

Homes in Sawley

In 1900 Sawley had about 200 houses, nearly all brick and around 30 thatched. A new area grew up near Sawley Junction station, and around 1900 the Derby Road Land Society laid out Shirley Street, Towle Street, Firs Street and Arnold Avenue. In 1931, 110 of Old Sawley's 230 houses were condemned. Electricity reached the old village in 1932, clearances followed, and the Chantry Close bungalows were finished in 1957. Bothe Hall, from the 1600s, is Grade II listed. Homes from the 1950s may still have rubber cable or unearthed lighting.

Asked in Sawley

Our bungalow on Chantry Close dates from the 1950s. What wiring problems turn up in homes that age?

Rubber cable that has gone brittle, lighting circuits with no earth, and a fuse box with no RCD are the usual ones. Many have been rewired since, but not all. We test a sample of points first and tell you whether a board change will do or whether the cable needs replacing.

We live near the Trent in Sawley. Can sockets be raised in case of flooding?

Yes. When we rewire a ground floor, we can drop the cables from above and put sockets and the board higher up the wall. After a flood, wiring fed from above is quicker to dry out, test and switch back on. It's worth planning in if you're rewiring anyway.

We recently bought a house that needs renovating. Josh is fantastic, an honest and reliable electrician whom we will be using on many occasions while we finish the house.

I contacted Josh from a local magazine initially to put a new light in and then to have all my light switches replaced. Josh has been professional, polite, on time and respectful on both visits…

I spoke to somebody on the phone and they were great at providing me with information and really helpful. I then booked in with them the next day to fix a tumble dryer plug and they came out within 4 hours and were extremely fast and very friendly. Thankyou for all your help. Great price too

Josh and his team have done a brilliant job installing electrics into our summer house and we are really pleased with their work. The work was done to an extremely high standard and they worked really hard all day in sweltering heat. They were also very professional. We would 100% recommend them.
